LUMAHOK AT MAGPROTESTA LABAN SA CHA-CHA NI GLORIA!Late in the afternoon, I chanced upon again rallyists armed with their plackards, streamers and banners marching along Espana Boulevard. - it was estatic. It was amazing that how many people can actually gather just for a cause. I was handed a paper which bear the words, "LUMAHOK AT MAGPROTESTA LABAN SA CHA-CHA NI GLORIA". Yes, they were written exactly how I saw them. BIG,BOLD,UPPERCASED. Since I was too busy to take the slightest moment to read, I just placed it in my backpack. When I arrived home, I read the paper and it went like this:
...and there class is a very good example of euphemism..NOT. Months ago, having read a reading passage called "Politics and the English language", gave me a negative connotation with the word Euphemism. Since then, I always thought that it was one of the skills that politicians have to possess to cover up seemingly negative ideas with complicated, epistatic, easy-to-the-ear words. That the more euphemisms you make use of, the more you sound like a good for nothing corrupt official hiding behind the mask of an effective leader. But after reading this handout, I ought rethink my firsthand ideas about euphemisms - that less of it is as poor as to over using it.To sum up my point, I wasn't very impressed with this "campaign material", dwelling too much on pessimisms and fault finding without even trying to recognize the change's possible positive effects. Plus, the words/phrases used, such as "Alipores" and "maitim na plano" just to name a few, turned me down as well. Truly el cheapo writing but I have agree that it makes sense. Oh, guess who's comming to the July 27 protest against Gloria? Me. I'll just wanna see what will happen, if there will be any at that.
I wanna get my own domain!![]() After a week of steady procastination, I finally finished my assignment in English and only one chapter to go in Micro-para. Yes, you could actually call me the "Micro-Para Nerd" now, basically spent my time reading about "Cornybaterium Diptheriae" and the different types of alga. I've also read some blogs lately of whom owned their own domain. I was really inspired by this and googled how to get those ohh soo cooooolllll personal domains that most "big time" bloggers have. I managed to find some and found myself reading to their posts regarding the domain thing. They tell you that the process is quite simple and all, but I say otherwise. My brain goes topsyturvy when I read the hosting packages etc. But then again, I still want my own domain! To those who could help me please contact me! =) And if by chance, someone helped me and I got my own domain. The question is... what would my site be about? Politics? Food and Business? Entertainment? I myself gets very puzzled when someone asks, "tungkol saan ba yung blog mo?", I would always answer "Iba-iba." After a few days of pondering of what my blog would be, I think that it'll be about PEOPLE. They're everywhere, each with their own story to tell. The URL would go like this: www.pinoyprofiles.com. It would feature filipinos from the different walks of life, the people you meet in the street, the people you work with, and the list goes on. Isn't diversity among people fascinating? What do you say about my idea? But before that, I have to find a technogeek first. WANTED: WEB DESIGNER, WEBSITE MANAGER, HOSTING SERVICE OR JUST BASICALLY SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP ME IN GETTING/ MANAGING A DOMAIN. Labels: blog awards, domain, micropara, people

Eksena Manila - Palarong PilipinoYey! Just came home from my very first Eksena Manila (EM) mission. As planned, the mission will take place on SM North Edsa Sky Garden. Meeting time was around 4pm infront of Ace Hardware. We met the agent core group of EM and had the briefing on what the mission will be since we came clueless about the set mission. We had a brief meeting, the title of the mission is "Palarong Pilipino" wherein the agents will "play" some Filipino games in the various parts of the mall. As Agent Joy, a member core group would put it, "What were trying to do now is raise awareness ng mga bata sa mga filipino games, as we all know, ung mga bata ngayon puro computer at PSP na lang ang nilalaro." (Well, that wasn't what see exactly said but that's how I percieved it) We met with the other members, which are a very diverse mix of people, varying in age, looks and get up. Quoting from Pre, "Hindi mo talaga mahahalata na magkakakilala tayo sa crowd dahil sa sobrang pagkakaiba natin." Unity amidst diversity, that's Eksena Manila. At around 6pm, the palaro officially started, we hanged out at the SkyGarden near the overpass. After a few minuites, Agent LA and the other agents started the "palaro" with the game of Chinese Garter. Of course before that, the usual "kampi-kampi" and "jak-en-poy" took place, catching the attention of some passers-by. At first we played "10-20". Since the other guys aren't familiar with it, a refresher course was given by some of the girls. Until then, I realized that I'm no good at playing those games. I was like the one who always have to be saved by the "mother". Us,creating a bigger scene in the mall area, were approached by two guards. We then called the game quits and decided to transfer to another place. We moved to another place in the SM North Edsa's Sky Garden and played "Luksong Tinik" and "Luksong Baboy". It was really fun since we played in the grass part of the Skywalk as not to cause traffic along the walkway. Even though I was so haggard and all, we still played like kids trying to jump across the "tinik" and the "baboy". People were really turning their heads and some were even taking videos of us.Again another KJ guard approched us, and we called the mission to end. It was really an experience I won't forget, I met new people of whom are very nice and easy to get along with. Agent LA, Phinee, Joy, Bagman, Pre, Choi, RS, Panda and the others who attended this mission, you really made my day. Mea culpa, I really have bad memory when it comes to names. Hoping for more (SOON), Agent RJ Big thanks to Pre (my classmate) for inviting me to join EM. To know more about Eksena Manila, you could visit their site here PS: Photos and videos, soon to be uploaded/snatched from multiply Labels: agents, eksena manila, em, filipino, manila All Hail the Omnipresent Tricycle!![]() Tricycle - a three wheeled vehicle which is either used as a mode of commercial transportation or a children's playtoy. But here in the Philippines, these seemingly mundane trikes are also used during rallies to voice out concerns in the government. Second to the jeepney, they also play an important role in the regulation of oil prices. That is...indirectly. Good thing that up to now, I still can't hear the local TODAs (Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association) blabbering about the "kung hindi magbababa ang presyo ng gas, mapipilitan kaming mag transport strike!". Well, I do believe TODAs aren't really that affected by the oil price hike since they can self-compensate their earnings if they will it. Here's an instance: *One rainy day at UST with matching baha up to the tuhod* ![]() Another thing that puzzles me is that "Why do Filipinos tend to substitute "f" with "p"?" *Me heading home, telling the driver about the location of our house*This is off topic pero I just want to share a conversation I overheard while waiting in line in a gadget shop

A trip to Mercury Drug/ Money: Filipino Barrier to Health care This post is dedicated to the people of Mercury Drug Lacson Manila branch. =) Few days ago my aunt asked me if I could drop by at the drugstore and buy some vitamins. Thinking it was just along my way going home, I agreed/was forced to agree. As I entered the store, I quickly noticed the fresh and clean smell that hospitals usually have. The environment was really relaxed even though a lot of people were actually purchasing their stuff and racing into the counters. After being in a trance-like state for about a minuite or so, I headed to the Prescription drugs section. Man! there were really a lot of people in line, not really in line but much more like the scenario you'll see in a busy turo turo karinderya. No they don't follow the first-come-first-serve basis, it was more like, "first to make utos/catch the attention of the pharmacist, first serve". Nonetheless, it knew it was typical Filipino attitude and judging from their faces, I could sense the urgency thats why I just let them do their thing. It was also this instance that I saw with my own very eyes the limitation that lack of funding brings to health care. Then and there after handing over the prescriptions given to them by the doctors, the next thing you'll hear from the customer while talking to the pharmacist is, "Anak, paki assess na muna kung magkano, kung masyado mahal, ito na muna bibilin ko[pointing at some of the drugs in the prescription]." This just saddens me. There were even people who were really freaking out like one girl in her 20's who blames the pharmacist for losing her "Sukikard". Good thing about the pharmacist is that he actually handled the situation very well, keeping his voice low and insisting that he'll replace the lost card. There was also this elderly lady who also lost her temperament because her medications weren't available. Again another pharmacist took control in the situation by saying sorry and even recomended another drug outlet wherein she could purchase the drug. I commend the Pharmacists there in Mercury drug, so professional but at the same time always ready to give a helping hand. Tara na, Mercury drug na! Nakasisiguro na ang gamot ay laging bago! at hindi ako nagpopromote.lol Labels: Health, health care, mercury drug, pharmacist, pharmacy Michael Jackson, Dead?![]() King of Pop, Michael Jackson, well known for his pop music and the scandalous controversies in relation to child abuse, died last night.
Quoting from TMZ, "Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills Indeed, he plays a vital role in the American music industry. No, perhaps in the whole American childhood itself, I could still even remember the days when our parents force us to make a "performance" in front of visitors.LOL But still, his contribution to music will forever be - as his song would put it - HA HA HA HA !
